Knightgurl I looked at the gollasary, but, surprisingly, it didn't say what a chapel was. I need to know what that is for my project. Please reply. Thanks! Peter A 'Chapel' is just that .. a place of worship within the castle, normally for Lord of the castle & his family, friends. You find that many of them are placed within towers attached\near to the main hall or living quarters of the Lord.
Some are an extension to, or part of the living quarters.
One of the most unusual is the 'Round Chapel' at Ludlow Castle, this is freestanding within the castle itself. Many can be picked out from other rooms because of the fine window that was often inserted.
Chaples as a whole were a very important part of castle life, richly decorated with wall paintings etc.
They can be certainly classed as a full seperate subject within a castles superstructure.Philip Davis I'm a bit suprised you don't know? However, a chapel is a small church or room for Christian worship.
